Why I built this
No funding, no sales team — a solo developer who needed a tool that didn't exist, and built it.
Read the full story →18 months ago I was combining solar, battery, heat pump and electrical for one customer — in Excel, because no single tool did all four. So I forked Pascal Editor (MIT, 14 years stable) and built what I needed: local, one payment, no cloud lock-in.
If I get hit by a bus tomorrow, founding buyers can fork it — Pascal Editor's MIT license still applies. No subscription to cancel, no server to shut down, no ransomware risk. A promise with legal backing, not marketing copy.
Real customer reviews will appear here as founding members share them — never paid, never fabricated.
Pay once, use forever

Compare Diaz Editor with your current tool
Honest comparisons — when Diaz wins, when the competitor fits. No bashing.
vs SketchUp Pro
$349/yr subscription vs €99 lifetime. When SketchUp's 3D Warehouse is worth it — and when it isn't.
vs AutoCAD LT
$455/yr for 2D only vs €99 lifetime for 3D + 2D. When .dwg compatibility still matters.
vs Fusion 360
$545/yr cloud CAM-CAD vs €99 lifetime building CAD. Two different worlds.
vs Rhino 8
Both one-time: $995 NURBS modeler vs €99 building CAD. Different jobs.
vs BricsCAD
Both perpetual. €620 DWG-native vs €99 building-focus. AutoCAD-power vs trade-workflow.
vs FreeCAD
Free open-source vs €99 polished. 40-hour setup vs 30-min ready. Time is the trade-off.
vs Aurora Solar
$2-3K/yr solar-only enterprise vs €99 lifetime multi-discipline. For solo + SMB installers.
Which fits you? (quiz)
30-second diagnosis. 6 questions → tool recommendation. Honest — can recommend a competitor.

Trade-specific landings with use-cases, examples, and components that match your work.
For carpenters
Dormers, extensions, furniture, joinery. 3D for client, 2D for the shop.

For work preparation
From sketch to execution drawing. Layers per discipline. DXF for subcontractors.
For solar installers
Panels + battery + heat pump + inverter on one building model. PDF + permit pack. €99 vs Aurora $9,540 over 5 years.
For electricians
Wiring schematics, panel layouts, NEN1010/NEC code reports. DXF for downstream contractors.
For woodworkers
3D furniture, bill of materials, DXF for CNC router. Vs SketchUp $349/yr = €99 once.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need internet to work?
No. Diaz Editor runs entirely locally on your PC. Internet is only needed for the initial download and optional update checks (disabled by default).
What happens to my projects?
Projects are stored locally in your browser cache (IndexedDB) or as JSON/DXF files on your PC. No cloud, no Diaz Atlas server. Backups are your responsibility.
How many devices per license?
Solo: 1 seat. Pro: 3 seats. Team: 10 seats. Educational: 25. Enterprise: 100. Agency: 999. Per seat = 1 active installation. Switch between devices by deactivating in the old install and activating in the new.
Can I get a refund?
Regular tiers (Solo, Pro, Team and up): yes — a 14-day money-back guarantee. Email juan@diazatlas.com with your order reference, processed within 5 business days. The €99 Founding Beta has no cash refund (you waive the withdrawal right under Directive 2011/83 art. 16m for instant access) — instead it carries a 60-day Triple Promise: if you're not satisfied, you choose one of three compensations.
Does it work on Mac or Linux?
Currently Windows 64-bit only. Mac/Linux are on the roadmap (estimated Q3 2026).
Open source?
Diaz Editor builds on Pascal Editor (MIT). The extra modules (2D CAD, license system, branding) are proprietary under the Diaz Editor EULA. See NOTICE in the install folder.
